Volunteer Positions:
The Jr. Raider Volleyball program runs on volunteers. Jr. Raiders needs additional volunteers to take over after the current Operations Director and Coach Coordinator's kids have aged out of the program next year. We had 190 kids in the program in 2023 and need additional Board members and volunteers to step up and take over in the coming years. Please fill out this Google Form (forms.gle/WiU3h9DcruMCVh5i8) to let us now which position(s) you might be interested in!
Board Members
Communications Director - open
Operations Director - open in 2025
Coach Coordinator - open in 2025
Treasurer - open in 2026
Here are additional volunteers roles we are looking to fill NOW in order to spread the workload.
1. Grade Level Coordinator (one per grade level)
Before tryouts: Compile List of players into tryout forms, check in forms
Attend tryouts: 5th and 6th grade - split teams on ability level with help from Jr Raiders staff
7th and 8th grade - teams will be split by high school coaches
After Tryouts: Make rosters, email parents, follow up to make sure all forms/fees have been turned in.
2. Equipment Manager: Jr Raiders provides all the equipment needed to coaches. We have 19 bags of volleyballs and their carts. At the beginning of each season, each team needs to have their equipment. An equipment manager would keep track of where the balls are located over the winter (usually at coach’s houses), order new balls/carts, and make sure coaches have what they need. This person would also work with the recreation department to ensure the poles and nets at each school are in working order. This volunteer job takes less than 10 hours total for the season.
3. Uniform Manager: Maintain and distribute jerseys. This person will order any additional jerseys needed for the upcoming year based on rosters (from Riedel Sports) and collect and store uniforms over the winter. We already have a volunteer for 2024!
4. Spirit wear Coordinator: Coordinate an online spirit wear shop with Riedel Sports and distribute orders by team to the coaches.
5. Gym Scheduler: Work with the Wauwatosa Recreation Department to schedule all facility needs, including gym time at east side schools for all teams’ practice scheduled based on coach availability. It also includes room scheduling for the parent meeting (typically held in the Raider Room at Wauwatosa East) and gym time at Wauwatosa East for tryouts.
6. Milwaukee College Prep Scrimmage Coordinator: Work with the Milwaukee College Prep coordinator to schedule approximately 4 - 6 scrimmages with comparable Jr. Raider teams. These all happen in one evening, typically at two different gyms. Work with the gym scheduler to secure the gym time and work with the high school coaches to recruit a few high school volleyball players to ref the games. This is a low pressure, high fun event that MCP looks forward to every year.
7. Jr. Raider Night Coordinator: Work with the boys and girls high school coaches and athletic director to schedule a Boys and Girls Jr. Raider Night at a boys and girls home volleyball match. Coordinate the introduction of the teams before the Varsity match and any fun items for the high school teams to toss to the crowd (small volleyballs/t-shirts).
